The TS2000 has birdies on 2m and 70cm that makes it totally useless for working SSB amsats. I already have a TS-870 for HF, so the 590 would be redundant.Ĭontinue this thread level 1 K6MJZ general 2 points 5 years ago I think the late 2009 and onward were the redesigned versions of the radio.I was going to buy a used one but ended up buying a new one in late 2011 after everyone convinced me that a new one was the way to go.I bought it late November at with no tax and no shipping with a pretty heavy Kenwood discount and the fact that people selling their TS-2000s were made of gold.the price deferential was not enough to motivate me to go used.I have been happy with it in the 3 years I had it. So Id highly recommend a 590 over a 2k unless you really need all mode 2m.

You may have just saved me a future headache:) level 1 W2 G 2 points 5 years ago The TS-590S is really discounted right now, maybe a tad more than the cost of a used TS2K.

Possibly can ID the latest version by serial number or the different RF board part number.

These boards have been in the latest production models for at least three years.
